Dr. Patel brings an impressive track record in advanced battery material development, underpinned by years of experience at the forefront of technological innovation.
Dr. Patel has been deeply involved in the development and commercialization of silicon-based anode materials, working across research institutions and industry to bridge the gap between laboratory breakthroughs and large-scale manufacturing. As a founding core team member at Group14, he played a key role in scaling production to multi-ton capacities, leading the process development for a 2,000-ton-per-annum facility in South Korea and two additional sites in Moses Lake, WA, while driving continuous process innovations and improvements.
Before Group14, Dr. Patel was a key figure at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, where he led the development of silicon-carbon composite electrodes for a Fortune 500 consumer electronics company. His expertise in Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) and production-scale processes laid the groundwork for robust commercialization pathways, solidifying his reputation as a scientist with the ability to deliver impactful results at scale.
Dr. Patel holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology, where his pioneering research in Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) coatings transitioned from nano-catalysis applications to advanced battery technologies. His work culminated in the development of a patented pilot-scale ALD process later acquired by ALD Nanosolutions Inc. (later acquired by Forge Nano), demonstrating his skill in bridging academic innovation and industrial application.
